No info on who will lead UN team here: Oli

Kathmandu, August 25 :

The government has neither been officially notified as to who will head the UN team coming here nor when exactly will the team arrive, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, KP Oli, told reporters at his office today.

The United Nations team is expected to visit Nepal in September.

He added that the government had not yet taken any decision on sending a battalion of Nepali peacekeepers to Lebanon.

“Nepal is positive about sending troops to support UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon), but the issue has not been decided,” said Oli.

On his China visit, which begins tomorrow and lasts till September 2, Oli said that the delegation led by him would hold talks with senior Chinese leaders on bilateral issues.

“There is no political agenda. Chinese leaders, however, may apprise us of the conclusion its assessment team drew when it visited Nepal recently,” said Oli. He added that the delegation would also dwell on new areas of cooperation between the two countries.

“We will dwell on increasing Chinese investment and Chinese cooperation in the development of Nepal. We will also apprise Chinese leaders about trade deficit, which Nepal is facing in trade with China,” said deputy prime minister Oli.

Oli is visiting China on an invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister, Li Zhaoxing and will be accompanied by Man Bahadur Bishwokarma, Minister of State for Environment, Science and Technology, MPs Chitra Bahadur KC and Ramchandra Yadav, Acting Foreign Secretary Bhagirath Basnet and other officials. The delegation is sche-duled to visit Lhasa, Chengdu and Shenzhen Special Economic Zone in China.
