‘No irregularities in distribution of ID cards’
Dhangadhi, July 30
Mayor Nripa Bahadur Odd of Dhangadhi sub-metropolis had started visiting every corner of the settlements to take stock of complaints over household identity cards for the poor, which were distributed in Dhangadhi from July 20.
Mayor Odd was there among the locals today after they complained that rich people had also received the Poor Household Identity Cards. But, he denied allegations that the sub-metropolis had been distributing cards to rich people. He further urged the media not to spread such a false message.
“Nepal government had deployed social mobilisers to collect details and cards have been distributed as per the details,” he clarified. Odd added that they did not have the right to stop the card distribution drive.
Dhangadhi sub-metropolis Ward No 3 chair Bal Bahadur Aire said some poor people might have been deprived of the poor household identity cards due to errors while collecting details. “Some rich people might have received the cards by mistake,” he added. Aire said it was not only the problem of Dhangadhi, but the entire country. “We will hold discussions in the sub-metropolis office over the issue,” he informed.
Administrative Officer Surendra Singh Karki of the sub-metropolis said the poor household identity cards would be distributed to 5,885 people in Dhangadhi.
