No new govt unless consensus on national issues: Sitaula

BANEPA: Nepali Congress leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula said a new government could be formed only after consensus on national issues was reached among major parties.

Speaking in a press meet organised by Nepal Press Union, Kavrepalanchok district chapter in Banepa today, Sitaula explained that implementation of the Constitution was the departure point for the consensual national politics.

He stressed that a new understanding among the major political parties should be made.

A big problem might arise if the election-related legislation for conducting the election of the different levels as stated in the new Constitution was not made at once; therefore, the election laws should be passed unanimously if possible and if not by a two-thirds majority," he opined.

He added that the political system to be established with implementation of the Constitution would give an outlet to the country.

Sitaula was in Banepa to attend a programme organised by a cooperative.
