Now, petroleum traders warn of agitation
Itahari, September 17:
Petroleum entrepreneurs today warned of staging an agitation if the government introduced a dual price system for petroleum products.
They pointed that the dual price system introduced for the sale of kerosene was unsuccessful. Chairman of the Petroleum Dealers’ Association Shiva Prasad Ghimire said it will not be appropriate to fix the dual price system.
The announcement of importing petroleum products from China without clearing its dues to the Indian Oil Corporation is not an honest act, he claimed.
Geographically, it will be better to import petroleum products from Bangladesh than China, he said, adding that the government is deceiving consumers by saying that it will import petroleum products from China.
Nepal is facing a shortage of petroleum products because the government is not purchasing the products due to financial constraints, he said. He called for the early implementation of the Petroleum Bill. Saying that the government’s statement that the adjustment of the price of petroleum products affects the CA polls is a false one, he said, “If the lack of petroleum products continues, it will disrupt the polls.”
He said there will be no shortage of petroleum products if the Nepal Oil Corporation’s monopoly over the distribution and sale of petroleum products is ended.
Meanwhile, the eastern region witnessed a shortage of petroleum products today.
