NRNs working to nab those cheating Nepalis

New Delhi, January 6 :

Non-resident Nepali organisations here are working to take action against those cheating gullible Nepalis in the name of providing them foreign employment.

Central advisor of the All India Unity Society (Main Stream) Kamal Khanal said complaints of cheating and stranding Nepalis in the name of sending them to foreign countries are being received daily for the last five years. “Not only from New Delhi, hundreds of victims from Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai also have come with complaints,” Khanal said.

Saying that the problem is more rampant in Mumbai, Khanal said the brokers have also been mistreating some workers of the All India Unity Society when they tried to get the cheated amount refunded to the hopefuls.

“In some cases, we manage to get the amount back after fighting with the brokers,” vice-chairperson of the All India Students’ Committee Yubaraj Banskota said, adding that some of the victims are sent back to Nepal through the Nepalese embassy in India.

Not giving recommendation certificates and sending Nepalis going to foreign countries by plane to New Delhi are some of the tricks that the brokers resort to while cheating those Nepalis going abroad, an official at the Nepalese embassy here said.

Some Nepalis who arrived here to fly to foreign countries have landed up in jail, as they could not produce the valid documents, the official said.

Incidents of cheating Nepalis going to other countries by pasting false photos on passports are increasing in Pahargunj near the New Delhi railway station. Chairperson of the Peoples’ Right Protection Committee (India), Laxman Pant, said they are working to expose the mafia involved in cheating Nepalis.
