NSP stir affects office work in Terai
Siraha, October 15:
Daily activities in most of the District Administration Offices in the Terai region came to a halt today following a protest programme of the Nepal Sadbhawana Party (NSP). Party activists gheraoed the DAO in different districts with their nine-point charter of demands, including announcement of election constituencies according to population and solving the problem of citizenship certificates before the CA polls.
A report from Siraha said party activists chanted slogans in front of the DAO and prevented people from entering the office. The party’s main demand is that the problem of citizenship certificates should be solved before the constituent assembly polls, said Yogendra Narayan Singh, NSP district chairman.
A report from Bara said NSP activists gheraoed the DAO and handed over a memorandum to the Chief District Officer (CDO). In Mahottari, NSP activists halted daily work in the DAO. A team headed by Kedar Nath Pathak, NSP district chairman, staged a sit-in in front of the main gate of the DAO from 10 am. Office staff slunk into the office through the back door. The demonstrators also forwarded a memorandum to PM Koirala through the CDO. Similar protests were staged in Rautahat, Parsa, Dhanusha and Saptari.
