Siraha, October 15:
Daily activities in most of the District Administration Offices in the Terai region came to a halt today following a protest programme of the Nepal Sadbhawana Party (NSP). Party activists gheraoed the DAO in different districts with their nine-point charter of demands, including announcement of election constituencies according to population and solving the problem of citizenship certificates before the CA polls.
A report from Siraha said party activists chanted slogans in front of the DAO and prevented people from entering the office. The partyâ€™s main demand is that the problem of citizenship certificates should be solved before the constituent assembly polls, said Yogendra Narayan Singh, NSP district chairman.
A report from Bara said NSP activists gheraoed the DAO and handed over a memorandum to the Chief District Officer (CDO). In Mahottari, NSP activists halted daily work in the DAO. A team headed by Kedar Nath Pathak, NSP district chairman, staged a sit-in in front of the main gate of the DAO from 10 am. Office staff slunk into the office through the back door. The demonstrators also forwarded a memorandum to PM Koirala through the CDO. Similar protests were staged in Rautahat, Parsa, Dhanusha and Saptari.
