NSU enforces bandh in Kanchanpur

DHANGADI: Nepali Congress-aligned Nepal Student Union enforced Kanchanpur bandh on Saturday, demanding arrest of culprits in the rape and subsequent murder of Nirmala Pant of Bhimdatta Municipality.

Shops and marketplaces remained closed, while vehicles stayed off the road during the bandh.

Bandh enforcers burned tyres in many places of Mahendranagar and chanted slogans seeking justice for Nirmala.

Keeping in view the bandh, a large number of police personnel had been deployed to prevent untoward incident.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Krishnaraj Ojha said the strike threw normal life out of gear in Kanchanpur.
