Number of cases of elephantiasis up in Panchthar

PANCHTHAR: The number of elephantiasis patients has started going up in the Panchthar district, of late.

Although only a few cases were reported in the district until a couple of years back, the number has reached to 80, at present.

According to the District Public Health Office, Panchthar, the infection has been found in 80 people in the district, so far.

A mass anti-filariasis medicine administration campaign has been conducted in the district to prevent this disease, informed Umesh Mehata, the Focal Person of the Elephantiasis Prevention Programme in the district.
