Oli challenges UCPN-Maoist to garner majority in parliament

MYAGDI: Senior leader and the Standing Committee member of the CPN-UML KP Sharma Oli today challenged the UCPN-Maoist to form a government garnering majority in the parliament.

He said,''One can not gain the leadership of the government by lamenting in street.''

Speaking at the inaugural programme of the eighth district convention of Youth Union Nepal Myagdi and 16th convention of ANNFSU in Beni, he challenged the UCPN-Maoist to lead the government in a constitutional way.

Urging the UCPN-Maoist to join the current alliance, he said statute-drafting process was more important than changing the government. ''Let's stop the game of changing government and cooperate each other,'' he said.

He also bemoaned that the Maoist combatants were not managed till now and properties seized by Maoists were not returned to the rightful owner.

Opining that disputes among the political parties could be settled through dialogue, he said,'' Statute should be drafted within the stipulated time frame.''

Claiming that the UCPN-Maoist was conspiring to take over the state power with the help of combatants, he said,'' Maoist combatants should be managed at the earliest.''

He revealed that his party would consider the leadership of the UCPN-Maoist in the government if it succeeded to transform itself as a responsible peoples' party. He also said that there had not been any discussion regarding the government change in his party.
