Oli tells Maoists to stop atrocities

Jhapa, July 2 :

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, KP Sharma Oli today warned that the government would be have to take action against the Maoists if they do not give up their policy of terrorising people.

Urging the Maoists not to talk out of line or create terror in society, Oli warned, “The Maoists, who have already expressed their commitment to reinstate the people’s rights through a peaceful process, need to stop their acts of extortion, abductions, holding their people’s court and blocking local bodies from appointing contractors.”

Oli said, “The country has a legitimate government and it also has the rule of law. If the Maoists are serious about joining the mainstream, they should stop t taking the law in

their hands. The Maoists should immediately close the people’s court.”

“If they continue to terrorise people by taking the law in their hands, the government will be forced to take action against them.” Oli also directed the local administration to take initiatives on its own for maintaining law and order instead of waiting directions from the centre.

Oli was speaking at a programme that was organized by the joint people’s movement committee of Jhapa in which families of martyrs Suraj Bishwas and Rajan Giri, who were killed in Chandragadhi on April 19, were felicitated.
