Dy PM to be in Delhi

NEW Delhi: Nepal’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Amik Sherchan is arriving here on Thursday to participate in the Southeast Asian ministers’ conference of the World Health Organisation. The two-day conference of health ministers of the SAARC region and southeast Asia will be see the participation of ministers from Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Thailand, Myanmar. The meet begins on Friday. During his trip, Sherchan will meet senior Indian politicians and ministers, sources in the Nepal Embassy in New Delhi said. — HNS

Indian leaders arrive

KATHMANDU: A delegation of Indian leaders led by Nationalist Congress general secretary arrived here on Wednesday on a goodwill tour. The convoy of over 12 leaders was flagged off from the house of former Indian prime minister Chandrashekhar last week. Members of the delegation include Pankaj Chaudhary of Bharatiya Janta Party and socialist leaders Kamal Morarka and Ravindra Manchanda. NC (D) president Sher Bahadur Deuba held a dinner for the delegation which is to pass on Chandrashekhar’s message to PM Girija Prasad Koirala. — HNS

Three hurt in blast

SURKHET: Three people — Tham Bahadur Gurung (10), Pitar Ramjali (11), and Sher Bahadur Khadka (18) — were hurt when a stray bomb went off on the Chhinchu-Surkhet road of the Ratna Highway at Chhinchu VDC, Surkhet, on Wednesday, police said. The injured have been taken to the Surkhet-based Regional Hospital for treatment, it said. Tham Bahadur is in a critical condition. — HNS

Valuables looted

LALITPUR: A group of seven unidentified persons looted valuables worth Rs 360,000 from a bank official’s house at Nagbahal, Lalitpur, early on Wednesday morning. According to the Lalitpur District Police Office, a group of seven armed persons broke into the house owned by Narendra Raj Joshi, official at the Nepal Bank Limited, head office, New Road, by breaking down padlocks of three gates. — HNS

Three hurt in accident

KAPILVASTU: Three persons were injured when a microbus hit a tractor that was passing over the bridge of the Bel river in Mahendra Highway on Wednesday, police said. — HNS

Ex-officials face panel

LALITPUR: The High-level Investigation Commission chaired by former justice Krishna Jung Rayamajhi recorded statements of eight former zonal administrators on Wednesday. Shyam Kishor Singh, Rana Bahadur Chand, Janak Jangalee, Kuma Bahadur Karki, Ramji Bista, Lalit Bahadur Thapamagar, Min Bahadur Pal and Mahendra Man Byathit gave their statement. Ram Kishor Singh told journalists all members of the erstwhile Council of Ministers should take responsibility for the suppression of the movement. — RSS

Pashupati’s assets

Kathmandu: The sub-committee constituted to study the fixed assets of Pashupatinath Temple and Pashupati Area Development Trust held a meeting on Wednesday. The meet decided to issue directives to the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Land Reforms, asking them to form a body to study the trust’s assets. — RSS
