Jailbirds’ strike

RAUTAHAT: Inmates of the Gaur Jail continued their relay strike on Sunday also, demanding amnesty. They said that their involvement was essential for the overall development of the nation, so they should be released. The strike was headed by Bijay Prasad Yadav, chairman of the Inmate Protesting Committee. “If the government did not heed our demands, we will launch other protests,” Yadav said. — HNS

No to open toilets

ITAHARI: A gathering of the villagers of Aurawani VDC in Sunsari district has declared ward number-4 of the VDC as ‘open-toilet prohibited area’. The ward will be declared as ‘open-toilet prohibited area’ from Monday. Supported by NEWA and Plan Nepal, temporary toilets have been built in 30 houses of the village. — HNS
