Gautam praises govt

Pokhara: Former deputy Prime Minister and leader of the CPN-UML Bamdev Gautam on Suday claimed that the policies and programmes presented by the government in the parliament were possibly the best one. Talking to mediapersons at Pokhara airport, Gautam said, “As the policies and programmes are the best, they should be endorsed at any rate.” Claiming that the government was formed under constitutional parameters, he said, “I never said the government was formed unconstitutionally. However, I have been saying that the President’s step was unconstitutional.” When asked if the party would take action against him for his comments, Gautam said, “I think that the party will not make such a terrible mistake. I am also one of the responsible members of the party.” — HNS


Fall turns fatal

SANKHUWASABHA: A person was killed after he fell from a cliff in Sankhuwasabha district on Sunday. Bhairab Bahadur Rai, 40, a resident of Barahabise, was killed when he fell off the cliff in the course of collecting fodder, police said. The body has been taken to Khandbari Hospital for post-mortem. — HNS

Clash claims life

Jhapa: One person died after a dispute took an ugly turn at Damak of Jhapa district last Friday. Naresh Paudel, 26, of Damak Municipality-1 died on Saturday, while undergoing treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, according to Area Police Area Office, Damak. Police have arrested five persons in connection to the incident. The arrested are Man Maya Tamang of Chulachuli-6, Purna Kumar Rai, Yogesh Khatiwada and Sandip Khatiwada of Damak-1, and Mina Bhandari of Maharani Jhoda-7, police said. — RSS
