NC-D cadres ‘beaten’

JANAKPURDHAM: Nepali Congress- Democratic (NC-D) has said Maoists activists beat up five of their party cadres at Nathpatti Bisarbhora VDC of Dhanusha district, on Saturday night. According to the NC-D Dhanusha district president Ram Saroj Yadav, Maoists beat up Binod Prasad Rohita, Pradip Rohita, Satya Narayan Rohita, Raj Dev and Jeebachha Rohita. Seriously injured Pradip has been taken to Patna, India, for treatment while Binod is undergoing treatment at Janakpur Zonal Hospital. Urging the Maoists not to repeat such incident, Yadav said Maoists’s action is a breaching of the 12-point agreement reached between the Maoists and the seven-party alliance. — HNS

Road obstructed

DANG: Vehicular movement along the Ghorahi-Lamahi road section in Dang district has halted from Sunday morning due to the obstructions placed by the Maoists at Bhaisahi area of Tribhuvan municipality. The Maoists piled up stones and soil on the road to obstruct it. Hundreds of passengers have been stranded as numerous vehicles have not been able to reach their destinations and are left at Bhaisahi area. The road had not been cleared till evening. — HNS

BHAIRAHAWA: Tribhuvan Jayanti and 56th National Democracy Day was observed in Bhairahawa on Sunday. The programme was organised by Siddhartha Jaycees and Siddhartha Women Jaycees. KATHMANDU: The Royal Nepalese Embassy, New Dehli, on Sunday organised a special function at the embassy premises to mark the 56th National Democracy Day and Tribhuvan Jayanti. Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives, Keshar Bahadur Bista, was the Chief guest on the occasion. NEFIN reps boycotted

KATHMANDU: The Tamu Chhonjha Dhi (TCD), an organisation of the Gurung community, has decided to boycott the general secretary and other representative of the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) from all its functions until the indigenous body provides it with affiliation. TCD president Dr Rem Bahadur Tamu informed this at a press meet on Sunday. — HNS
