Pakistani held at TIA

KATHMANDU: A police team at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on Sunday arrested a Pakistani national,Tanbir, for trying to evade custom duties on goods he was carrying to Pakistan. Police seized goods worth Rs 4.1 lakhs, including 445 packets of cigarettes, 320 tubes of Fair and Lovely cream, one lather jacket, four torches, and 110 steel scissors from Tanbir. Tanbir was scheduled to board a Pakistani Airlines flight on Sunday, police said. — HNS

Six held for looting

KATHMANDU: A police team from Bouddha Ward Police Office on Sunday arrested two persons — Kara-mdip Sherpa and Pasang Sherpa — on charges of stealing electronic equipment from Kantipur Hotel Management, Bouddhanagar, police said. Separately one Raju Lama from Kalanki was arrested in connection with several pick-pocketing cases in Kathmandu. Meanwhile, the Valley Police on Sunday arrested Yek Bahadur Jimma, Dipak Lama and Rajesh Shrestha for their involvement in different looting cases. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Ambassador of the State of Israel to Nepal, Dan Stav, paid a courtesy call on Minister for Foreign Affairs Ramesh Nath Pandey at the latter’s office in Sheetal Niwas on Monday. Matters related to bilateral relations were discussed during the meeting. — RSS

Minister bereaved

KATHMANDU: Minister for Finance Madhukar Shumsher JB Rana has been bereaved of his mother. His mother, Hem Kumari Rana (Shahi), was 91. She died at her residence in Jawalakhel on Sunday. — RSS
