Kids toil to support

Khotang: Children of Suntale in Khotang and Aptar of neighbouring Udayapur are compelled to work on daily wages to support their study and meet their daily needs, all thanks to poverty. The children are involved in reconstruction works of the government office buildings in Khotang which were damaged during the decade-long Maoist insurgency. Ramesh Magar (11) of Suntale lamented," I have come here to carry stones as my family is very poor." He added, "I am working so that I can support my study financially." Similarly, other teenagers: Umesh BK and Kaluman Bhujel of Suntale, and Prem Rai and Ritesh Rai of Apatar, Udayapur, too are toiling there. — HNS


Four held in Dharan

DHARAN: Area Police Office, Dharan arrested four persons with explosives on Tuesday. Police took Pankaj Shrestha, Prakas Shrestha, Shekhar Shah and Saligram Rai of Dharan-3, under control and confiscated 50 kg sulphur and soda from them. Inspector Abadesh Bista said the arrested men are suspected to have involved in the supply of the explosives. — HNS


Police vehicle vandal

Sindupalchowk: Small traders vandalised a vehicle belonging to the Armed Police Force on Wednesday while the latter tried to seize the goods that were imported illegally from China. According to Pradip Khadka, DSP, Armed Police Force, the incident occurred at Khadichaur, a market place along the Araniko Highway. He informed that the traders encircled and attempted to attack the police team.--HNS
