NSU debacle flayed

KATHMANDU:

Nepali Congress (NC) on Tuesday flayed the vandalism that took place at the Dipendra Sabhagriha in Pokhara during the NSU convention. The party has assigned Sukra Raj Sharma of NC Kaski District Working Committee to coordinate the repair work of the hall. — HNS

Basnet hearing on

KATHMANDU:

The hearing by Royal Commission for Corruption Control on Dip Basnet, joint secretary at the Ministry of Finance, began on Tuesday. The RCCC will decide whether to allow Basnet a bail. He is in police cu-stody for financial irregularities. — HNS

HIV test facility

SYANGJA:

A primary health care centre at Waling has been providing HIV/AIDS test facility, while the district hospital is unable to do so. Syan-gja hospital chief Dr Hari Ram Marahattha, necessary equipment were made available at Waling with assistance of locals. AIDS has claimed over 50 lives in Syangja and over 10,000 are estimated to be HIV positive.— HNS

Lightning kills one

BARA:

One person was killed and one injured after being struck by lightning at Nijgadh on Tuesday. Akal Bahadur Magar was killed and Gopi Kharel injured. He was rushed to Birgunj.
