RAUTAHAT: The NC-D district committee of Rautahat has demanded the release of party leaders who have been jailed for corruption. In a statement issued on Saturday, the committee said the RCCC verdict against party president Sher Bahadur Deuba and central member Prakash Man Singh had mocked democracy. — HNS

Six hurt in mishap

BHADRAPUR: At least six persons were injured when a truck hit a taxi on the Budhabare-Barne section of the Mechi Highway on Friday. The accident happened when the loaded truck, headed for Jhapa from Ilam, hit the taxi plying in the same direction. The injured have been admitted to the Mechi Hospital, Bhadrapur. — RSS

One held with drugs

BIRGUNJ: Regional Police Unit, Birgunj, has arrested one Mohammad Ayatulla, 30, of Raksaul in India, with a bag full of narcotics near the Customs Office, Birgunj. The drugs were being allegedly brought from India for sale in Nepal. — RSS
