Property gutted

KATHMANDU: Property worth two million rupees was gutted in a fire that broke out at two shops near Maitidevi bridge in Kathmandu on Thursday. Suresh Baidhya, the proprietor of Baidhya Concern, said goods worth Rs 1.5 million was gutted in the fire while Shovit Rijal of Leading Aim Cyber Space said 15 computers, printer, e-phone and fax was gutted, causing a loss of Rs 0.5 million. — HNS

Arrested NSU prez ill

Kathmandu: President of the Nepal Students’ Union, Keshav Singh, who has been taken into custody at the Kathmandu District Police Office, Hanumandhoka, is suffocating due to lack of sufficient oxygen, Keshav’s elder brother, who met Keshav along with a doctor on Thursday, said. He added the administration had refused to shift him to a cozier room. Keshav is suffering from gastric, chest pain and urine infection, he said. —HNS

Custody extended

NEPALGUNJ: The District Administration Office, Banke, has extended the custody of NC general secretary, Sushil Koirala, by three months.

The DAO handed the notice to this effect to Koirala on Thursday. Though Koirala was held on February 2, he was handed over the detention warrant on February 4. — HNS
