Maoists release four cops
DHANGADI: Maoists on Sunday released four security persons after over a month in captivity. Maoists had abducted Dharmananda Bhatta, the jailor of Dadeldhura Prison, ASI Netra Bohora, constable Prem Singh Kunwar and Khagendra Dhada of Birendranagar-4, Surkhet on different dates of month of January/February. — HNS
Scribe welfare fund set up
HETAUDA: The Federation of Nepalese Journalists, Makwanpur unit has set up a Journalist Welfare Fund of Rs 200,000. The fund will be used to provide relief worth about Rs 5,000 to the family members of the journalist who is killed in any accident or disaster. Pratap Bista, FNJ unit president said efforts are on to increase fund. — HNS
Publisher released
POKHARA: The administration released Bal Kumar Khadka, the publisher of Khula Pratispardha weekly on Saturday. He was arrested from New Road on Friday . The security body clarified that Khadka was arrested because his name matched with that of a man from Sindhuli who has been collecting donation in the name of the Maoists. — HNS
Dacoits kill one
BIRGUNJ: Ram Krishna Pandit, 60, of Viswa Tole of Birgunj sub-municipality-18 was shot dead as he tried to resist dacoits on Saturday night. Pandit was a staffer at the poultry farm where the dacoits were about to loot, District Police Office, Parsa informed. Pandit’s wife also sustained bullet injuries in the hand. SP Bijaya Kayastha said the robbers looted Rs 4,000 from the farm. — HNS
