Maoists kill RNA man:

RAJBIRAJ: Maoist suspects gunned down an RNA personnel at Rupani Chowk of Roypur in Saptari district on Wednesday. The Maoists shot dead Hawaldar Major, Swambhu KC, while he was on duty. KC died on the spot. A group of seven to eight Maoists after shooting him at about 1 pm immediately fled the incident site, said locals. — HNS

Court sans cases:

MUGU: Not a single case has been lodged at the district court, Mugu, for the last six months. Such a lack in day-to-day court work has been attributed to Maoist threat on the villagers that they are not to go to the district court, but to contact at their so-called people’s court for any complaint or injustice faced by them, it is said. There were only two minor cases filed at the court during the first two months of the current fiscal year, it is said. The court employees pass their time sitting in sun these days. — RSS

No kerosene for Rukum:

RUKUM: People of Rukum have not received kerosene on concession. They have been forced to pay Rs 115 for a litre of kerosene after electricity supply was halted. It is hard to get even a drop of kerosene although some 2,000 litres are in stock in the district, said sellers and consumers. Electricity supply from Syarpudaha general hydroelectric centre has stopped completely. Maoists had stopped the supply at district headquarters during the blockade, and security forces have stopped the supply since January 4. — RSS

20 Maoists surrender:

SIRAHA: Some 20 Maoists including so-called district committee member surrendered at the DAO, Sarlahi, on Tuesday. Those who surrendered were so-called district committee member Hari Narayan Yadav, area committee in-charge Ajaya Kumar Yadav, district member of All Nepal Independent Students Union (Revolutionary) Prama Nanda Yadav among others. — RSS
