2 killed in accidents

PARASI: A girl was killed and two others were injured in a road accident at Arun Khola along the East-West highway, in Nawalparasi district, on Friday. Jyoti Shahi, 18, a resident of Nayabelhani-8 was killed on the spot while Punam Lama and Saraswati Lama sustained injuries, when a truck Na 1 Kha 5376 hit them. They were out on a morning walk, Nawalparasi District Police Office, said. The injured are undergoing treatment in Madyabindu Hospital. Irate locals obstructed the highway for three hours. In another incident, a report from Dailekh said, electrocution killed 10-year-old Ganesh Regmi, a resident of Melheltoli VDC-6, police said. Regmi touched a live wire from the construction site of the local Narayan Campus. — HNS

4 held with pistols

DAMAK: Police on Thursday night held four persons who were roaming freely in the city with homemade pistols. A patrolling team of police from Damak Area Police Office held Prabesh Mibhak of Tandi-8, Morang and Amit Rai, Sardip Tamang and Lal Bahadur Tamang of Dharampur-5 for possessing illegal arms. A homemade pistol and two rounds of bullets were also seized from the assailants, said Nabin Karki, Inspector, Dama Area Police Office, adding, "We caught them from Dharampur area, along the East-West highway." — HNS

IGP returns

KATHMANDU: Sanat Kumar Basnet, IGP of Armed Police Force (APF) returned home, on Friday, after attending 78th convention of International Criminal Police Organisation in Singapore from October 11-15. APF press statement issued stated that the convention raised issues of border security, capacity building of United Nations peace keeping forces, action against organised crime, minimizing cyber crime, drug trafficking, human trafficking and various others crimes. — HNS

Thief arrested

KATHMANDU: Madan Pariyar, 12, from Bhojpur has been arrested by police yesterday while he was trying to break into a house of Tara Bahadur KC of Baneshwor. The Police are moving ahead with further investigation. — HNS

Gamblers arrested

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested 16 gamblers from a gambling spot in Jorpati. They were arrested from the house of Manju Shrestha of Jorpati at six in the morning. Police also seized Rs 10,000 from the gamblers. — HNS
