RAUTAHAT: Gagan Baitha, a local of Tegraha VDC, accused two PLA combatants from a cantonment in Shakthikhor of Chitwan of constantly threatening him with life. Talking

to journalists on Friday, he said

that he had been frequently threatened by PLA combatants Pramod Paswan and Ramji Baitha. He also informed that the Maoists were yet to return his land and property seized during the conflict. — HNS

VDC secretary held

GAIGHAT: Locals arrested secretary of Lekhgau, accusing him of misusing the VDC’s funds, and handed him over to the DDC on Friday. A local, Jit Bahadur Rai, said,”He had misused Rs 160,000 from the VDC’s funds and was out of contact.” The DDC formed a three-member committee to investigate into the case. — HNS

Two killed in mishaps

PALPA: Two persons were killed in separate mishaps in Palpa on Thursday. Om Kumar Shrestha, 65, a resident of Tahu, was killed in a fire on Thursday. He was trying to douse the fire that broke out in Putlechaur jungle, the police said. Meanwhile, Khagisara Shrestha, 41, of Nayarnamtales-2, was killed when she fell off a cliff on Thursday, the police said. — HNS

One killed, 35 hurt

JANAKPUR: A person was killed and 35 injured when a bus met with an accident at Sakhuwa Mahendranagar on Janakpur-Dhakebar stretch of the highway on Friday. The bus was heading to Janakpur from Sarlahi. Police said the youth killed in the accident was yet to be identified. Three critically injured passengers are undergoing treatment in Dharan. — HNS

Nepali dies in Korea

LAMJUNG: Shaktiman Tamang, 24, a local of Baglungpani VDC-1 of Lamjung, died of a heart attack in Korea on March 22. He had reached Korea for employment. Family sources said Tamang had left for Korea eight months ago. Tamang’s body was yet to be brought to Nepal. — HNS

Transmitters burst

DAMAK: Nineteen transmitters of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) have blown off in the western parts of Jhapa within the past 10 days. “Farmers in the rural areas directly connect wires in the main distribution line to power their pumping sets to irrigate the lands. The transmitters blew off as they could not support the load,” the Damak based branch office of NEA said. — HNS
