Civil society’s plea

Kathmandu: A section of human rights activists today urged the political parties to end the political impasse at the earliest. The civil society leaders have blamed both the then government and the President for the present political stalemate. Meanwhile, they also urged the political parties to allow the Maoists' sankalpa prastav in the parliament and end the deadlock. The civil society leaders also alleged the leadership for disrespecting the parliament. They further demanded that the constitution drafting process be given the needed momentum. — HNS

Cabinet approves

KATHMANDU: The political committee of the cabinet approved a strategy to control the loss caused by natural calamities. The government will implement the strategy prepared by the Home Ministry, to minimise the risk and loss from calamities such as floods and landslides, Minister for Information and Communications Shankar Pokharel informed. — HNS
