Bus accident: 4 dead

CHITWAN: Four persons were killed and over 20 injured when a bus (Na 1 Kha 6165) heading to Madi from Narayangarh met with an accident at Ghailaghari in Chitwan on Sunday. Two deceased were identified as Ram Lal Kandel, 45 of Madigardi-3 and Doroga Rai of Naraktiyagunj of India. Two others who died are yet to be identified, the Chitwan District Police Office said. Five of the injured have been undergoing treatment in Bharatpur Hospital. Condition of Kul Bahadur Ranabhat of Ayodhyapuri-8 is critical, police said, adding, other injured returned home after treatment in Jagatpur. The ill-fated bus met the accident as it was carrying excessive numbers of passengers, police said. — HNS

HURPES’s new office

KATHMANDU: Human Rights and Peace Society (HURPES), in a press statement, on Sunday stated that Yam Nath Ghimire has been elected the president and Prem Prasad Yadav appointed secretary of the new working committee of the organisation.
