Bandh cripples Jhapa

DAMAK: Normal life of Jhapa came to a halt on Tuesday due to a bandh called by Kochila Swayetta Parisad and Swatantra Koch Sanghiya Morcha demanding that Jhapa, Morang and Sunsari be declared Kochila State. Only a few motorcycles, rickshaws and bicycles were seen plying on the roads. Earlier, rallies were taken out at Damak municipality on the eve of the bandh, on Monday. Chairman of the morcha, Arjun Rajbansi has warned of series of protests in the days to come. — HNS

Wanted shot dead

Banke: A person on the hit list of the Indian Police was murdered in Nepalgunj on Monday night. “Masjid Manihar, 57, of Nepalgunj Municipality-15, was shot dead at Laliguras Hotel,” Deputy Superintendent of Police, Raj Kumar Baidawar said. Meanwhile, Inspector at the ward police office, Sudhir Shahi informed that

the deceased was involved in transaction of fake currency notes. The inspector further informed that the police was moving ahead with further investigation. — HNS

Maoists to visit China

KATHMANDU: Unified CPN-Maoist Chairman Prachanda and some other senior leaders are leaving for China, this Saturday. According to vice chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha ‘Prakash’ senior leaders Mohan Baidhya ‘Kiran’, foreign department head Krishna Bahadur Mahara and Dahal’s son Prakash will be accompanying the supremo. Shrestha said the leaders were invited by the Chinese Communist Party. Shrestha also informed that he too will be visiting China on November. — HNS
