Police post burnt

ACHHAM: An irate group burnt down a police post at Dhakari VDC in Achham district on Tuesday for the latter had arrested four tipsy people. Documents, furniture, foods, clothes and communication sets of the police were burnt in the arson. Ten policemen including the in-charge of the post, Gaje Dhami were severely beaten up in the incident. No support for the police was available on time as Hiraprasad Dhamala DSP Achham was out of the district without any information. The incendiary group is still at large. — HNS

Thunderstorm kills 2

PARASI: A thunderstorm killed two and injured 14 others in Nawalparasi on Tuesday night. The deceased have been identified as Chunimaya Thapa, 34, and Chhabilal Thapa, 16, residents of Bhadauri in Nawalaparasi’s Jaubari VDC-8. The injured are

undergoing treatment at a local health post. According to Area Police Office Kawasoti, a team of police have been deployed at the site of thunder strike. — HNS

Father, son missing

TANAHUN: Binaya Acharya, 41, and his son Birat, 16, residents of Putalibazaar Municipality-13 of Syangja district, have gone missing in Narayani River. The duo went missing from Benighat in Devghat VDC-2 in Tanaun while they were taking a dip in the river, police said. The area police office Devghat has been carrying out search. Earlier, one person had gone missing while he was taking bath at the same site, a week ago. — HNS

Property gutted

DHADING: Goods and property worth Rs. 300,000 were damaged when a fire broke out at the house of Kajiman B.K. at Nalang VDC-3 in Dhading district on September 26.

The entire house was gutted by the fire and all the food grain, valuables and household goods were destroyed.The family has been sheltering at a neighbour’s place since then. The cause of the fire is not yet known— RSS

Woman elctrocuted

Tulasipur: A woman died due to electrocution in Dang on Wednesday. The deceased, 45-year-old Pankhi Khatri of Goltakuri VDC-6, according to the Area Police Office, Tulasipur. Khatri died on the spot after she got electric shock while connecting a water pump for irrigation purpose near her house. Meanwhile, a girl died due to diarrhoea in the mountainous district of Rolpa today. She is four-year-old Tila Budha, daughter of Gyan Bahadur Busha of Budhagaon VDC-9. With this the death toll in Rolpa due to diarrhoea has reached 13. — RSS

Lightning claims one

Parbat: A woman died and another one injured due to lightning at Bajung VDC-1, Parbat on September 27. Twenty-five years old Kalpana Kunwar died on the spot after being hit by lightning at her house. She is the daughter-in-law of Ambar Bahadur Kunwar. Meanwhile, Maina Kunwar, Ambar Bahadur’’s younger daughter-in-law has been severely injured in the incident. She has been taken to the Manipal Teaching Hospital for treatment. The duo were struck by thunderbolt when they were cleaning utensils outside their home at 8:30 pm on Sunday, police said. Three goats were also killed by the lightning.Likewise, Ram Datta Subedi of Majhphant VDC-1 was seriously injured after he fell from a passenger bus en route to Dimuwa from Kusma Bazaar today. He is undergoing treatment at the District Hospital. — RSS
