Killer hubby caught
BHOJPUR: Rajen Sarki, a resident of Nepaledanda-9 in Bhojpur district, was arrested in Boya VDC on Thursday. He had been absconding after murdering his wife Tulasa some days back. Sarki had hacked her to death following a feud, Inspector Mohan Pariyar said. — HNS
Bomb defused
DAMAK: Security personnel on Thursday morning defused a bomb planted at the house belonging to Govinda Thapa, CPN-UML Damak committee member, in Damak-13. An unidentified gang had placed the pressure cooker bomb in Thapa’s house, police said. The bomb was disposed by a joint team of Babarjung Battalion of Nepali Army in Charali and Pathibhara battalion of Armed Police Force. — HNS
Bank runs out of cash
CHARIKOT: Charikot branch of Nepal Bank Limited has run out of cash for over a week. Branch manager Sundar Khadka said the bank was not able to pay depositors more than Rs 5,000 per cheque. The bank will have to shortly pay up to Rs 200 million as the salaries of teachers and other government staffers, including their allowances and pension. Khadka said they notified Nepal Rastra Bank about the cash crunch two weeks back and added all dispensation could be halted if the situation
