Road accident: 2 dead

RUPANDEHI: A person was killed when a motorcycle he was riding on was hit by a bus in Rupandehi district on Thursday. The victim has been identified as Tika Shahi, 23, a resident of Butwal-5, the police said. Shahi, who was critically injured in the incident, died while undergoing treatment in Lumbini zonal hospital. Meanwhile, Mohan Gharti, a resident of Gulmi, working as a helper of a truck, was found dead in Daunne of Nawalparasi on Thursday. The truck driver has been absconding after Gharti’s death, police said. — HNS

10 hurt in mishap

GULMI: Ten persons were injured when a jeep met with an accident at Chatragunj VDC of Argakhachi district on Thursday. The jeep was heading to Sandhikharka of Argakhachi from Tamghas. There were 15 persons on board when the ill-fated vehicle met with the accident. Of the injured, three of them are in a critical condition and are undergoing treatment in Sandhikharka hospital.—HNS

KATHMANDU: Disabled Students’ Society is organising a convention of students with disabilities across the country on September 5 in Kathmandu. Organising a press conference on Thursday, Surendra Paudel, central president, DSS, said the convention would discuss ways to ensure the rights of the disabled in the new constitution and their representation in the state mechanism. — HNS
