UML leaders resign

SAPTARI: Several leaders and cadres of the CPN-UML including the central advisor and former parliamentarian Hira Lal Chaudhari on Tuesday quit the party to join the Unified CPN-Maoist. Former district secretary Man Bahadur Chaudhari and district member Pradip Basnet were also among those who joined the UCPN-M. They were welcomed by UCPN-M’s district leader Bishwanath Saha and district in-charge Surya Nath Yadav ‘Subash’. — RSS

Cash relief planned

DAILEKH: The Dailekh district administration office is set to provide Rs 100,000 compensation to families of each of 300 persons killed in Dailekh during the decade-long conflict. Chief District Officer Baladev Gautam said families of policemen, army men, government officials and commoners killed by the Maoists and families of Maoist cadres killed by the state will get the compensation. The assistance will be deposited by opening accounts in Rastriya Banijya Bank based on applications filed by the kin of the people killed during the conflict. — RSS
