Deuba flays Maoists
POKHARA: Senior leader of the Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba said his party would remain active in the parliament to control the autocratic activities of the Unified CPN-Maoist. 15 hurt in mishap
WALING: Fifteen passengers were injured in a jeep mishap at Tindobate-9 in Karadi of Syangja district on Saturday. The jeep was bound for Galyang Bazaar from Pakwadi-5 when it met with the accident. Six critically injured persons have been taken to Pokhara while others are being treated in Syangja District Hospital. — RSS
FNJ to shift office
DADELDHURA: The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) is relocating its regional office to Dadeldhura. A meeting of the FNJ regional committee held in Kanchanpur on Saturday decided to shift its far-western office to Dadeldhura. The meeting chaired by FNJ central member and regional coordinator Manmohan Sawar and attended by all chairmen of nine district chapters decided to shift the regional office to Dadeldhura. — RSS
Scientific fares ‘soon’
DHANGADI: Minister for Labour and Transport Management Lekhraj Bhatta on Saturday said scientific fare rates in public transport vehicles would be implemented within a few days. Speaking at a programme organised by the Revolutionary Journalists’ Association, Kailali chapter, Bhatta said discussions with entrepreneurs were underway on the implementation of scientific fares. — RSS
Unique statue
GAUSHALA: A unique statue of Hanuman was unveiled at Matihani, a famous religious site in Mahottari district, on Friday. Thousands of people thronged the village to have a glimpse of the 7.5-feet-tall Hanuman statue with its hand carrying a 115 feet tall flag. A fair has been organised in the village to promote the site, where the flag carrying Hanuman statue was the main attraction. At least 5 lakh pilgrims from Nepal and India are expected to visit the fair that is expected to see a trade worth Rs 2.5 million. The statue was erected to wish for peace and progress in the country. — RSS
CA panel’s meeting
KATHMANDU: A meeting of Social Justice, Inclusiveness and Special Conservation Sub-Committee under Fundamental Rights and Directive Principle Committee of the Constituent Assembly was held on Saturday. Committee coordinator Gagan Thapa chaired the meeting. At the meeting president of the Association of Youth Organisations Network (AoYON) Nepal Kavindra Burlakoti and executive director of Sambridhdi Foundation Ravin Sitaula were invited as experts and they expressed their views on the role of youths during the constitution drafting process. —RSS
