Man kills wife, self

SANKHUWASABHA: A staffer at Sankhuwasabha District Development Committee killed his wife before taking his own life on Sunday morning. Thirty-year-old Govinda Baniya, a resident of Dholbaje in Khandbari municipality-11, stabbed his wife Kabita, 30, and slit his throat. DSP at Sankhuwasabha District Police Office Surya Prasad Upadhyay said while Kabita died on the spot, Govinda died on the way to Khandbari District Hospital. The bodies were sent to the district hospital for post mortem. The couple is survived by two sons. — HNS

BARA: Guardians padlocked Nepal Rastriya Lower Secondary School in Pipra Basatpur of Bara district for an indefinite period on Sunday, accusing the school’s headmaster and the school management committee of corruption. “They have misused funds and have employed three extra teachers in the relief quota meant for four,” local guardian Uma Shankar Singh said. — HNS

Rare deer found

TANAHUN: The Students of Jana-Jyoti Higher Secondary School of Bhimad VDC in the district have found a rare species of deer on their school premises. According to the Principal Khima Nanda Parajuli, they found the deer while they were returning home after taking the send-up examination. He said the deer would be handed over to the District Forest Office through the District Police Office. — HNS
