ISTU dept formed

KATHMANDU: Nepal Institutional School Teachers’ Union (ISTU) on Friday formed a 13-member employees’ department under the coordination of Thakur Prasad Amgai to fight for the rights of private school employees . “The new committee, in coordination with School Employees’ Council, a body of government school employees, will fight to ensure our rights as per the education law,” said Amgai. — HNS


Nidhi flays Maoists

RAJBIRAJ: Nepali Congress general secretary Bimalendra Nidhi on Friday accused PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal of hatching conspiracy to make Nanda Kishor Pun ‘Pasang’ the Chief of Army Staff. Addressing a gathering organised by Nepal Trade Union Congress, Nidhi said that the PM had a long-term plan of taking PLA fighters into the NA by sacking CoAS Rukmangud Katawal. He said there was an agreement of managing the PLA fighters within six months. — HNS

Bid to check bike theft

Biratnagar: The Morang District Traffic Police has stepped up its vigil at checkpoints, following several incidents of motorbike theft in Biratnagar. At least 10 motorbikes were stolen in the past 15 days. Bike owners complained that though motorbikes theft has become common, the police were unable to nab any culprit so far. Bikes parked in Koshi Zonal Hospital, Tax office, DDC office, Adarsha School and Jana Andolan Chowk are especially prone to theft. — HNS
