Four held with arms

RAUTAHAT: Locals on Saturday evening arrested four youths with illegal weapons from Bholenatar of Chandranigahapur VDC-3 in Rautahat and handed them over to the police. The locals captured the four persons after they shot at a bullock owned by a local, Kumar Moktan. The arrested are Sunuwar Gole, Pun Bahadur Gole, Durga Lokachan and Raju Ghalan, the police said, adding that two country-made guns were also seized from them. — HNS

Seven hurt in clash

BARA: Seven persons were injured when two groups clashed in Madhuri Jabdi VDC of Bara on Friday night. The groups led by Hari Bhajan Sonar and Ram Ayodhya Pandit, respectively, clashed over the issue of appointments for the national literacy campaign, the police said. Pandit was critically injured and is undergoing treatment at the Narayani Sub-regional Hospital in Birgunj. — HNS

Teenager abducted

SIRAHA: A teenager was abducted from Mirchaiya area of Siraha on Friday. Ayush Tiwari, 16, a resident of Phulbariya-8, was abducted while he was heading to Ramnagar Mirchaiya. The abductors also took away his motorcycle, the police said. Prakash Tiwari, Ayush’s father, said Ayush had just left home for Mirchaiya when he was abducted. The police said a search for the missing boy is underway. — HNS

Man killed

LAHAN: Shyam Kumar Yadav, 28, of Maniktol of Inaruwa-4 in Siraha district died when a tractor ran over him on Friday night. According to the police, Yadav died on the spot after the tractor ran over him when he fell from the tractor at 11pm. The driver of the tractor and the owner Geeta Devi Yadav are at large. — RSS

Funds ‘embezzled’

BARDIBAS: Education Journalists’ Group, Mahottari, has urged authorities concerned to investigate into the alleged embezzlement of funds meant for Child Centred Learning Programme in the district.
