Absentee employees

LAHAN: Forty employees were found to be absent when the District Administration Office, Siraha, on Friday cross-checked employees in different government offices in district headquarters Lahan. Chief District Officer Gairanath Bhandari and Administrative Officer Dilip Lamichhane inspected the Sagarmatha Zonal Transport Management Office, Division Road Office, District Forest Office and District Transport Office on Friday. Administrative Officer Lamichhane said forty employees — from office-in-charge to peon — were found absent during office hours. “They will be penalised as per the Civil Service Act, Bhandari said. —RSS

Agitators critical

RAJBIRAJ: The condition of seven employees of Koshi Pump Irrigation Management Division No 2, who are on a hunger strike for five days, is deteriorating. A team of health workers from the Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital has been attending to the agitators. The agitating employees have been demanding salary and facilities on a par with other government staffers. Issuing a press statement, the Nepal National Irrigation Workers’ Struggle Committee has expressed solidarity with the agitators. —RSS
