Youth found dead

BIRATNAGAR: A youth, who was missing since Saturday after a boat capsize in Koshi river, was found dead on Tuesday. The body of Manoj Timsina (25) was found at Sripur VDC-6, some six kilometres north-east from the Koshi barrage. — HNS

Bench boycotted

RAUTAHAT: Lawyers in Rautahat boycotted legal proceedings in the district court for the third day in a row on Tuesday to protest the Supreme Court’s decision to suspend the license of president of Nepal Bar Association Bishwo Kanta Mainali. — HNS

Eight still missing

GAIGHAT: The whereabouts of eight persons disappeared during the conflict period in Udaypur district are still unknown. According to the Udaypur chapter of Conflict Victims’ Society, Lilaraj Acharya of Triyuga-1, Om Prakash Koirala of Triyuga-8, Dhakraj Rai of Beltar-1, Ghanshyam Khadka of Khaijanpur, Dilli Nath Acharya of Panchawati-4, Keshar Bahadur Thapa of Mayankhu, Prakash Waiwa of Thoksila-8 and Bishnu Rai of Rauta-8 are still missing. — HNS

Four ‘robbers’ held

KHOTANG: The police arrested four persons involved in robbery at Bandareghat, border of Khotang and Udaypur, on Monday. Santosh Rai, Rabin Rai, Suman Rai and Birkha Pariyar of Balamta-5 of Udaypur were arrested, the police said. — HNS

DHARAN: Dr Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, kidney specialist at the Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, was feted in India for his contribution to kidney treatment and research. Dr Sharma and Dr Naqvi of Pakistan were feted during a conference of physicians in Lucknow. — HNS

School lock-out on

BHOJPUR: Agitating students have not lifted the lockout at Champe Secondary School even as the lockout entered fifth day on Tuesday. They had padlocked the school to get their demands fulfiled. — HNS

Blast in Dharan

DHARAN: An unidentified gang detonated a bomb in the building of Dharan Municipality on Monday evening. The explosion occurred during load-shedding hours. The gang entered the municipality premises by overpowering the security guards deployed at the building. The explosion, however, caused no major damage to the building. — HNS

YCL-RPP clash

JAJARKOT: Few YCL cadres were reportedly injured on Monday when they clashed with RPP cadres, who were protesting vandalism of house and attack on RPP cadre Bhim Bahadur Malla and Kamal by YCL activists on Sunday. The YCL cadres had been gheraoing the local Chaukha Area Police Office since Monday. DSP Birkha Bahadur Rawal said police were in alert to avoid any untoward incident. — HNS
