Bus catches fire

RAUTAHAT: A bus caught fire after a blast in Chandranigahpur of Rautahat district on Monday. All bus passengers were safely rescued. The bus was heading to Kathmandu from Barahathawa of Sarlahi. Locals said the blast occurred when passengers were boarding the bus at Chandranigahpur. Forty passengers were on board. President of the Tarai Army Mr John has owned up the blast. Meanwhile, a gang planted a bomb at a police post in Santapur Dostiya of Rautahat. — HNS

Highway obstructed

TANAHUN: Residents of Gunadi in Jamune VDC-1 obstructed Prithvi Highway for five hours on Monday to protest the hike in fares by minibuses on Damauli-Gunadi route. Meanwhile, transporters have agreed to withdraw the hike until the government reviews the fare. — HNS

Mysterious death

RAUTAHAT: Wife of Ramsewak Roy Yadav of Rautahat’s Pipararjawada-5 has died in mysterious circumstances on Sunday night. Her neighbour Bidyananda Roy Yadav said her parents-in-law used to beat her almost daily. Her father-in-law Musafir claimed that she died of labour pain. She was a pregnant of six months. SI Raj Kumar Shah said torture marks on the body.— HNS
