Two found dead
ILAM: Two persons died in Godak and Naya Bazaar of Ilam district on Wednesday. Gopi Luintel, a driver with the Maikhola small hydel project, died after falling in a river when he was returning to his room at 7:00 pm on Wednesday.
One Ratna Sunuwar was found dead at Tarrebhir in Naya Bazaar of the district. — HNS
Bird flu alert in Ilam
MANGALBARE: Pointing at the spread of bird flu in Darjeeling and other parts of India, the Livestock Office in Ilam has urged people to help prevent the outbreak of bird flu in Nepal. High alert has been sounded in 13 VDCs bordering India, said chief of the Animal Quarantine Check Post Ilam Sudarshan Prasad Regmi. The office has banned the export and import of fowls via bordering areas and informed that action will be taken against the violators. — RSS
Youth electrocuted
TANAHUN: A 23-year-old youth was electrocuted in Tanahun on Thursday. The police identified the youth as Rabin Ghalan of Makawanpur district. Ghalan, who was living in Keshavtar-6, was electrocuted while he was repairing a power cable. — HNS
Four NC men expelled
BARA: The Bara chapter of the Nepali Congress has expelled four of its activists on the charge of filing candidacies against official CA poll candidates of the party. An NC district committee meeting decided to expel cadres Jitendra Singh, Suresh Khanal, Balram Prasad Shah and Jeet Bahadur Chaudhari, who had filed candidacies against the NC official candidates, NC district secretary Medeni Dev Kharel said on Wednesday. — HNS
Blockade hits life
SANKHUWASABHA: Life in northern Sankhuwasabha has been paralysed due to a blockade enforced by the Dedang Police Administration of China. The blockade has been in force for three weeks. The Chinese move has affected the people of Hatiyagola, Chepuwa, Kimathanka and Pawakhola. — RSS
Shooter arrested
BARA: People of Prastoka VDC-4 of Bara district on Wednesday held 23-year-old Ram Sakal Mahara of Praskota for shooting businessman Birendra Shah Teli, who luckily dodged the bullet. Mahara, who was held with a pistol and a bullet, was handed over to the police. — HNS
