Cash award for cops

PALPA: The Palpa district administration office on Friday awarded cash prizes to those police personnel whose performance during the CA polls was exemplary. The DAO also recommended 16 police personnel for promotion. Two police inspectors, three sub-inspectors, seven assistant sub-inspectors, 11 head constables and 13 constables were given cash awards by the DAO. —HNS

Three PLA men hurt

MANGALBARE: Three PLA men under Biplav Srijan Memorial Brigade stationed at a camp in Danabari VDC, Ilam, were injured when a tree crushed them on Thursday following a windstorm. Anjan, Alan and Kushal were injured in the incident, PLA brigade commander Jokhim said. Following the windstorm, a dozen of tent houses were damaged. It is learnt that property worth around Rs 10 lakh was damaged. —RSS

Nepalis stranded

MYAGDI: Seven Nepali youths have been stranded in Kuwait for a month. Dhana Bahadur Chhantyal of Barangja-1, Myagdi, Govinda Thapa of Sindhuli and five other youths, who were bound for Iraq, were stranded in Noghang after being duped by a manpower agent. “The agent booked a flight for Kuwait instead of Iraq from New Delhi and went incommunicado,” said Man Bahadur Pun from Kuwait. — RSS

12 members quit FNJ

LAMJUNG: Protesting the influence of the central committee of the Federation of Nepali Journalists in picking executive members of the Lamjung FNJ, 12 members on Friday resigned from the organisation. The FNJ had nominated Kisan Nepali as the president of FNJ Lamjung on April 13 after a controversy. Those resigning include Arjun Parajuli, Milan Sharma Darnai and Parameshwor Adhikari among others. — HNS

Bank staffer abducted

SIRAHA: An armed group abducted Raj Kumar Shaha, an office assistant at Lahan branch of Agriculture Development Bank, in Siraha on Friday while he was on his way to office. Shaha, a resident of Asanpur, Siraha, was abducted at 9:30 am from Kasaha Chowk, family sources said. — HNS
