Forest land grabbed

PARASI: Encroachment of government owned forests has been increasing in several places in Nawalparasi district. Locals complained of construction of NGO offices, temples, stupas and churches and surrounding its compounds with walls and barbed wires in the area. The DFO is doing nothing about such construction on the forest land, locals regretted. Encroaching upon the forest land adjoining the highway in Sunwal, Bhumahi, Bardaghat and Kawasoti has been increasing, Nawalparasi District Police Office said. Meanwhile, officer at the DFO Hari Narayan Mandal said several organisations had filed applications to the DFO to provide land for erecting signboards. — HNS

Journo threatened

BIRGUNJ: Sub-Inspector of District Police Office Parsa Radhemohan Kushabaha threatened a local journalist Sanjaya Shah to take his life following a publication of a news of police personnel taking bribe. Sub-editor of Janapratibimba Daily, a local vernacular, Shah had published news about police personnel taking Rs 3.5 lakh as bribe from businessman Sandrika Shah Teli of Parsa’s Sedhawa VDC-8 on Monday. Blast claims one

DANG: A person was killed while another was seriously injured when a bomb went off in Pyuthan on Saturday. Yam Bahadur Rokka, a resident of Dakhakyadi VDC-8 of Pyuthan was killed on the spot while his son Ramesh Rokka was seriously injured in the explosion, Rapti Zonal Police Office said. Ramesh is undergoing treatment in Butwal. — HNS

Two injured

BARA: Two persons were injured when a tractor met with an accident at Bhatauda-3 in Bara district on Friday night. Tractor driver Ainelu Ansari and Anikesh Patel of Banjariya-9 were injured in the accident, police said. The injured were taken to Birgunj for treatment. — HNS

Two killed

ITAHARI: Two persons were killed when a motorcycle was hit by a bus at Jhumka in Sunsari district on Friday. Motorcyclist Rajesh Chaudhari, a resident of Udaypur district was killed on the spot while a woman pillion rider, who is yet to be identified, died undergoing treatment in Dharan, the police said. — HNS
