NC leader attacked
RUPANDEHI: President of the Nepali Congress Constituency No 3 unit of Rupandehi Bishnu Basyal was injured when an unidentified gang attacked him with sharp weapons on Monday night. The assailants came on motorcycles with their registration numbers covered, at Khadawa Bangai VDC at around 8:00 pm, said NC Rupandehi member Yubaraj Giri. Basyal sustained injuries in the head and the back. He is recovering at Lumbini Zonal Hospital, the party said. The police said a manhunt is on to nab the culprits. — HNS
Bomb defused
RAUTAHAT: Police on Monday defused a powerful bomb that was planted at Garuda in Rautahat district. A bomb disposal squad from the district police office defused the two-kg bomb that was placed on road-side leading to Mohammedpur from Garuda. Locals had spotted the bomb placed by an unidentified group and informed the police, who said the bomb might have been planted to create panic in the run-up to the election to constituent assembly. — HNS
FNJ’s concern
POKHARA: Federation of Nepalese Journalists Kaski district unit on Monday strongly denounced the attack on correspondent of Nepal 1 TV Om Hamal on Monday. A team led by CPN-Maoist Kaski district committee member Dilip Bikram Shahi allegedly attacked Hamal when he was at Pame in Kaski’s Sarangkot VDC for news reporting, president of the FNJ Kaski Narayan Karki said in a press release on Monday. Hamal reportedly sustained injuries in his face. — HNS
