Condolence meet

CHITWAN: Ram Krishna Ghimire, district president of Nepali Congress, on Tuesday demanded action against the murderer of party cadre Govinda Poudel 'Gopi'. Addressing a condolence meet organised to mourn Poudel's death, Ghimire said the party would always remember the contribution of late Poudel. An unidentified gang had attacked Poudel on Sunday. Poudel breathed his last while undergoing treatment in Kathmandu's TU Teaching Hospital on Monday.— HNS


Baitadi DDC padlocked

MAHENDRANAGAR: Rastriya Janamorcha on Tuesday indefinitely padlocked the Baitadi District Development Committee office saying that the DDC did not distribute its budget in a transparent manner. "The political parties' haphazard allocation compelled us to take the action," Devsingh Mahara, party's district chairman, said. "The lockout will continue until our demands are met," he said. — HNS

Two held for fleecing youths

PHIDIM: Police on Monday arrested two persons from Pauwabhanjyang of Panchthar district in the midst of their collecting money from youths in the pretext of giving jobs. Suresh Kumar Bhattarai and Dabali Kumari Chulagain were collecting Rs 300 per head under what they called the national people's liberation campaign for employing the youths in the fake 'social mobiliser' posts in the district. — HNS


Female body found

KHOTANG: An unidentified female body was found in Khotang's Diktel-6 on Tuesday. ASI Bhojraj Rakhal said the body of a woman about 30 years of age was found in Locha forest, 5 kilometres away from the district headquarters, Diktel. Preliminary investigation suggested the woman could have been killed after rape. — HNS
