Surya Nepal strike

BIRGUNJ: Strike of Trade Union at Cigarette Division of Surya Nepal Private in Simara of Bara continued in the fifth day on Sunday as well. Four hundred workers affiliated to the trade union including 62 temporary workers, with 15 points of demands including rise in salary, have been staging the strike since Wednesday. Though management have been saying that they are ready to hold talks, nothing has been done as yet. — HNS

Bazaar reopens

ITAHARI: Itahari bazaar, which remained closed to protest the killing of two students by dacoits since Saturday, was reopened on Sunday after an agreement was reached. An agreement was made to establish a trust comprising 11 members in the name of the deceased students at the talks held among the agitating students, civil society and local administration. On Friday, dacoits had killed XI graders Yogendra Koirala and Mukunda Dahal at the Itahari-based Janta Multiple Campus. — HNS
