First vehicle in VDC
Biratnagar: People of Chiuri Bhanjyang of Yangsila VDC in the northeast of Morang district garlanded the first vehicle that arrived in their village on Wednesday. A nine-km muddy road linking Aanptar with Chiuri Bhanjyang of Yangsila was constructed recently and vehicle plied for the first time in the village on Wednesday. After the completion of the road people of four VDCs of Dhankuta and two VDCs of Morang will also benefit, locals said. — HNS
Thapa flays SPA
Kathmandu: Rastriya Janashakti Party chairman Surya Bahadur Thapa blamed the seven-party leadership of imposing authoritarianism and violating the interim constitution in the name of the seven-party alliance. Speaking at a party programme in Lalitpur on Thursday, Thapa said, “Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, Maoist Chairman Prachanda and UML General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal are crossing the limits of monopoly” by imposing the seven-party decisions on the people. — HNS

BARA: Fire in two houses destroyed property worth Rs 22,000 in Bara on Wednesday. The two houses belonged to Mohamad Sankal Dewan and Ailun Dewan of Shreepurtole in Manarwa-5, the Bara District Police Office said. — HNS
Seven hurt in mishap
ITAHARI: Seven persons, including two ASIs of Armed Police Force, were hurt when a jeep heading to Itahari from Mirchaiya turned turtle at Narasingh section of Mahendra Highway in Sunsari on Wednesday. APF ASI Jaya Bahadur Basnet and Devraj Kafle, head constable Chandra Bahadur Rajbanshi and civilians Lekhnath Koirala, Laxam Thapa, Muktiraj Rai and Yubaraj Kafle were hurt, the Sunsari District Police Office said. ASI Basnet, who sustained critical injury, has been undergoing treatment in Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, the police said, adding that other injured are being treated in Inaruwa. — HNS
Four held with arms
SIRAHA: Police arrested four persons, along with weapons, on the charge of involvement in criminal activities and robberies in Siraha district on Wednesday. The patrolling team from Maheshbari Area Police Office arrested Ramautar Yadav, Shreedev Khatwe Mandal, Nathuni Chamar and Bishnudev Khatwe Mandal from Sothiyain-2, SP Mingmar Lama said, adding one homemade pistol and three rounds of bullet were seized from them. — HNS
