Prisoners escape
KAVRE: Three prisoners escaped from the district prison at Dhulikhel at 6pm on Wednesday. Among the escaped prisoners are Uttam Bahadur Thapamagar and Kamal Bahadur Thapamagar of Ramechhap district who had been serving jail term for dacoity. The third prisoner managing to escape from the jail is Bhakta Shahi of Kavre who had been serving a sentence on rape charge. The prisoners escaped from the main gate of the prison house. Separate police teams have been dispatched to search for the prisoners and the police who were on duty have been taken under control, DSP Mahendra Pokhrel at the district police office, said. — HNS
3 killed in mishaps
HETAUDA: Hikmat Hamal, 19, of Mahottari Bardibas was killed when a motorbike heading from Hetauda to Birgunj and a truck coming from the opposite direction collided with each other on Wednesday, police said. Motorcyclist Ganesh Bhandari, 36, of Chitwan Meghauli was hurt in the mishap, police said. A report from Tanahun said 11 passengers were hurt when a overspeeding passenger bus overturned in Byas Municipality-1 on Wednesday. A report from Rajbiraj said Puran Chaudhary, 35, who was hit by a bus on Tuesday in Saptari’s Kalyanpur VDC died on Wednesday. Meanwhile, bus conductor Pasang Sherpa, 20, of Dolakha died on the spot after the bus ran over him near Ambukhaireni bazaar in Tanahu on Wednesday evening. — HNS

Damak: The UNHCR has begun
distributing application forms to Bhutanese refugees wishing to settle in third countries including the US. The form distribution began from the Beldangi-1 camp in Damak of Jhapa. A refugee in the Beldangi camp said over 300 refugees collected the forms on the first day on Wednesday. The forms are printed in both Nepali and English. Earlier, UNHCR had run a pamphlet campaign among the refugees about the third country settlement option. — HNS
