UNMIN’s office

BAGLUNG: With a view to observing the constituent assembly elections, the United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) has established its office here. The office will study security situation in Baglung, Dhaulagiri, Myagdi and Parvat districts and will submit its report to its regional office. The UNMIN office has also held consultations with the District Election Office (DEO) with the aim of working together. — HNS

Police post security

BHADRAPUR: Security has been beefed up at a police post at Tiringakhola of Bahundangi-8 in the district after an unidentified person threatened policemen to vacate the office. The District Police Office, Jhapa, said the man issued the threat to Sub-Inspector Nar Bahadur Basnet by calling on his mobile telephone. The man called from an Indian mobile telephone number. — RSS

One held for murder

SARLAHI: Police have arrested Jiten Patel Kurmi, an Indian national, on the charge of murdering a local Ram Chandra Shaha. Shaha, a native of Musaili VDC-1 in Siraha district, had been shot dead at Himnadi bridge in Melhi VDC two weeks ago. — RSS

Snakebite death

UDAYAPUR: A woman died of snakebite on Sunday, while her son is in critical condition in the district. Bishnu Maya Katuwal and her six-year-old son Durge Katuwal of Bashaha-4, Kusumchaur, in Udayapur district were bitten by a poisonous snake while they were asleep on Sunday, a local said. The mother died due to lack of treatment. — RSS
