Kathmandu: The Embassy of India, the Palpa District Development Committee and the Tansen Multiple Campus, Tansen, recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding grant of Rs 15.47 million(Indian ).The grant will be used for construction of a building for the campus, an Indian Embassy statement issued on Sunday, said. — HNS

Two die in mishaps

POKHARA: Dhawa Sondram Gurung, 28, a businessman from Muktinath VDC of Mustang district died in an accident on Saturday. Kaski police said Gurung was seriously injured when a motorcycle he was riding on collided with a parked truck and later died while undergoing treatment at the Gandaki Hospital. In another incident, a motorcyclist Debendra Bahadur KC, 24, of Rakhu Bhagwati VDC died after he was knocked down by a bus on Saturday at Yamdi, Hemja VDC of Kaski district. Hasish haul

POKHARA: Police on Saturday arrested Bir Bahadur Lama of Aakra-8 of Makwanpur district with 14.5 kg hashish from Pokhara. Police found 29 packets of hashish with half kg each inside a tin-box in a sack during a routine checking. Police team led by Inspector Tika Bahadur Karki of Narcotic Drugs Law Enforcement Unit arrested him after a tip-off. — RSS

2 buried to death

TIKAPUR: Two persons died and two others were injured when a mound of clay fell upon them while they were digging clay at a hill near Kadha river. Those dead are Sita Chaudhari, 25, of Dododhara-7 of Kailali district and her nephew Mahesh Chaudhari, 7, whereas her nine-year old daughter Rekha Kumari and Maya Chaudhari sustained serious injuries. Those injured are undergoing treatment in the Seti Zonal Hospital and their condition is reported to be serious. — RSS

UDAYAPUR: Workers of the CPN-Maoist affiliated Young Communist League (YCL) have declared that they have seized the house of ex-Minister Hari Bahadur Basnet, and locked it. Hundreds of workers led by District Secretary Rajan Kiranti and half a dozen district leaders broke the old lock of the house at Triyuga-17 and put a new. They have also hoisted the Red flag of the roof of the house. A silent procession reached the house and hung a banner with the slogan Long Live Federal Republic. — RSS

Health post opened

POKHARA: Dr Hitoshi Morita inaugurated on Friday a new health post building built at a cost of Rs. 3.6 million in cooperation with the Annapurna Health Institute in Bharatpokhari VDC of Kaski district. The VDC had provided seven ropanis of land for the six-room building. Fifty Japanese nationals had provided financial help for the construction. BIRATNAGAR: The Babar Thapa Sewa Trust has given the Babar Singh Thapa Award to dramatist Deepak Aalok.
