BIRATNAGAR: The police arrested former royal regime nominated chairperson of Morang DDC Ballav Prasad Dahal on Tuesday. Dahal was arrested from his residence at Pokhariya of Biratnagar-4, SP Gopal Bhandari said. — HNS

Passenger bus looted
BIRGUNJ: A passenger bus heading for Kathmandu from Birgunj with pilgrims on board was looted on Monday night. Buddhist followers, were looted when the passenger bus they were travelling in arrived at the housing area of Sugar Mill in Birgunj. Although the bus was escorted by the police, an unidentified gang broke into it and looted the passengers and vandalised the bus. — HNS
61-yr-old abducted
BARA: An unidentified gang abducted 61-year old Bharat Dhakal of Manaharwa-5 Belwadi Sripur from his home on Monday night. His wife Chinta Dhakal and other family members on Tuesday appealed human rights activists, mediapersons and political parties for his safe release. No body knows why Dhakal, a farmer, has been abducted. — HNS
One killed, 17 hurt
TANAHUN: One person was a killed and 17 were injured when a jeep collided with a bus at Deurali in Ghasikuwa on Damauli-Dumre sector of Prithvi Highway on Tuesday. Joshraj Pandey, 55, who was travelling in the jeep died on way to the hospital, police said. Among the injured, seven have been taken to the Western Regional Hospital in Pokhara while others were being treated at Damauli Hospital. — HNS
