NARAYANGARH: Two containers meant for locking up Maoists’ arms were brought to the main cantonment site in Jutepani, Chitwan, on Friday. A team of UN officials and the Maoists also arrived in Jutepani. Baldev, the deputy commander of the CPN (Maoist) and member of the team, said they had arrived in Chitwan to fix the place where the UN’s temporary office will be set up and containers kept. — HNS

Aid volume to go up

Biratnagar: India’s ambassador to Nepal, Shiv Shankar Mukherjee today said India would double the assistance it has been providing to Nepal to strengthen peace and democracy here. The envoy made this remark while laying the foundation stone of the Nursing Campus building at Sisawanijahada VDC-3 of Morang district to be constructed with financial aid of Rs 29.5 lakh from India.— HNS

GAIGHAT: The Katari bazaar reopened on Friday evening. Locals had shut the bazaar on Thursday after Maoist cadres from temporary camps at Belsrot allegedly beating up ANNFSU cadres gathered at the Katari Campus on Wednesday. — HNS
