Octogenarian robbed

KATHMANDU: A group on Tuesday kidnapped 86-year-old Dhanapati Neupane from Anamnagar. He was later found unconscious on the banks of Dhobikhola. The kidnappers looted gold ornaments from him, victim’s son Rumang said. — HNS

Donation drive on

Itahari: The Maoists have intensified donation collection in the rural areas of Sunsari district. “Maoists force each household to provide them with 120 kg of paddy,” said a local at Madhuban, Yuddha Bahadur Bista. Maoists are collecting 80 kg of paddy from each household at Prakashpur area, a local Baburam Khadka said. — HNS

House okays bills

KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives (HoR) on Tuesday unanimously approved a Bill to amend the Voters’ List Act. Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula presented the proposal during Tuesday’s second meeting of the House. The Bill will now be sent to the Parliamentary Committee for discussion. The meeting also unanimously approved the National Women’s Commission Bill-2063. — RSS

KATHMANDU: Bhutanese human rights activist Tek Nath Rizal was admitted to the Manamohan Memorial Hospital, Thamel, on Monday. He was taken to the hospital after he

SARLAHI: Indian ambassador to Nepal, Shiv Shankar Mukherjee, has called on the Nepalis to get united for strengthening Loktantra. Laying the foundation stone for the construction of a building of the Janata Secondary School at Phaudasingh of Ranigunj VDC in Sarlahi district on Monday, he said, “India is running 160 programmes in Nepal.” “India is priortising the development of health, education and other sectors,” he said, adding, “India is thinking of increasing support to Nepal,” he said. Soldier kills self

TAPLEJUNG: Puspa Lal Pahadi, a non-commissioned officer at Indra Dal Company of Nepal Army at Taplejung, committed suicide by shooting himself on Tuesday morning. Twenty-two-year-old Pahadi, a resident of Sindhuli, committed suicide while working in the computer room at 10 am, Chief of the Company, Paras Basnet said. — RSS

Health camp held

Kailali: A medical team of the Kohalpur Medical College Teaching Hospital on Tuesday provided free health check-up at the Maoist sub-camp in Sahajpur. “Altogether 181 PLA soldiers underwent health check-up and 20 of them were referred to the hospital for further treatment,” said medical team chief, Niraj Dhungana. The same team had provided free health check-up for PLA soldiers in seventh base camp at Talbanda and Badaipur in Masuriya on Monday. — HNS

Rs 7 lakh robbed

Nawalparasi: As many as eight dacoits struck at a house in Tamsariya VDC of Nawalparasi on Monday night and decamped with cash and goods worth Rs 7 lakh. According to Kawasoti Area Police Office, the dacoits tied house owner, Dhakaram Pathak, before committing the robbery. Dacoits also robbed two houses at Deukhuri Gadhwa-4 in Dang. — HNS
